A machine usually plays the role of an assistant and mass producer aiding humans in the making process. Similarly, the 3D printer is a linear procedure of production that assists designers by printing 3D designed files accurately and precisely. This thesis seeks to radically reposition the role of the 3D printer to discover a new landscape of making by activating the machine as a making tool instead of a production tool.

The stimulated making is inspired by complex creations such as nests, traps and social colonies found in the natural world. By exploring the paths of making followed by the makers of nature such as weaverbirds, spiders and ants, new marks are created that transform our perceptions on the role of a 3D printer, as well as cultivate a collaborative relationship between man and machine.
